A British judge has granted bail of £5 million (approximately $10.4 million) to Grammy-winning artist Chris Brown, who is currently facing serious allegations. The accusations stem from an incident in February 2023, in which Brown allegedly assaulted music producer Abe Diaw at the Tape nightclub in London, reportedly using a bottle in the attack.

The ruling by Judge Tony Baumgartner comes from Southwark Crown Court and allows Brown to proceed with his world tour, which had been cast into uncertainty due to his recent legal troubles. Last week, another judge had ordered his detention following charges of grievous bodily harm with intent. The bail was set with the condition that Brown must show up in court for future proceedings.

Brown, 36, was initially scheduled to return to court on June 13. However, if he had remained in custody, he would have missed at least two dates on his upcoming tour, commencing next month in Europe. His legal issues arose from an alleged unprovoked attack during his previous tour, which was captured on surveillance footage showing Brown striking Diaw multiple times with a bottle and subsequently punching and kicking him.

In addition to Brown, fellow American musician Omololu Akinlolu, known as "Hoody Baby" and a friend of Brown, has also been charged related to the incident. As of now, both Brown and Akinlolu have yet to enter a plea and are set to appear in court again on June 20.

Brown, who gained fame as a teenager in 2005, won his first Grammy in 2011 for best R&B album with his album F.A.M.E., and added another Grammy in the same category earlier this year for 11:11 (Deluxe). He is known for hit songs including Run It, Kiss Kiss, and Without You. His upcoming tour is slated to begin on June 8 in Amsterdam, before heading to North America in July.
