A recent incident involving a P-plate driver in a BMW has drawn attention after the car failed to stop for a police officer on Nicklin Way. Instead of complying, the young driver swerved around the officer, prompting a reaction where the officer threw his radar gun at the vehicle’s window.

This event unfolded in a school zone, where the speed limit is set at 40 km/h to ensure safety for children and pedestrians. Following the occurrence, the officer has received managerial guidance; however, he will not be suspended and may instead need additional supervision as part of his ongoing professional development.

As for the 18-year-old driver, they now face several charges, including speeding in a school zone, careless driving, and failing to stop when required by law enforcement. The case highlights the importance of adhering to road safety regulations, especially in areas where vulnerable road users, such as schoolchildren, are present.
