An Australian activewear brand headquartered on the Sunshine Coast, Exoticathletica, has entered voluntary administration after more than a decade of operation and is currently seeking a buyer. Established in 2014, the company has gained popularity for its vibrant women’s fitness apparel. Administrators from SV Partners were appointed last month to oversee the sale of this beloved brand.

In a statement, SV Partners indicated that recent years have been challenging for Exoticathletica, citing shifts in senior management and rising operational costs as key issues. However, the administrators believe these difficulties also open avenues for potential growth and innovation, which could help establish a more robust business moving forward. The decision to transition to administration was made with the intent of finding a new owner who can maintain and rejuvenate the brand.

Despite facing these challenges, the company continues to operate and is currently offering significant discounts of up to 70% on its website. Founder Leilani Chandler drew inspiration for the brand from Brazil’s lively fitness fashion scene, which celebrates feminine curves and bold designs, encouraging women to express their unique styles. Chandler once revealed that one of their model tops, priced at $49.99, generated sales of $7 million, with approximately 140,000 units sold online within a year.

The brand previously had a physical retail location on the Sunshine Coast, contributing to its local presence. SV Partners remains in contact with potential buyers as they work towards securing a new future for Exoticathletica.
