Sydney’s train network faced significant disruptions during peak hours due to heavy rainfall and a power outage at Strathfield, impacting services across all city lines, as well as routes to the Central Coast and Bathurst. Transport NSW attributed the widespread delays to issues with power supply at the Strathfield station.

Commuters were advised to factor in extra travel time as unexpected changes to stops and platforms were anticipated. In response to the chaos, Transport NSW urged travellers to consider using Metro services connecting Epping, Chatswood, and Central, while also suggesting that non-essential travel be postponed whenever possible. Local bus routes and alternative transport arrangements were recommended as viable options during the disruptions.

Passengers were encouraged to stay informed by listening for announcements, checking information screens, and utilising transport apps for real-time updates before boarding trains. As the situation unfolded, crowds amassing on the platforms reflected the challenges faced by commuters during this disruption.
