A tragic incident unfolded at a Springfield Lakes home near Brisbane, where a young mother, aged 23, was found unconscious and later pronounced dead by emergency services. Following the alarming reports, the police took two men, a 28-year-old and a 26-year-old, into custody on Friday evening for questioning, which led to their subsequent murder charges the next day.

The family of the deceased reportedly hailed from Afghanistan and had recently settled in the area. The arrest of the two men, who have remained in police custody, occurred in a tumultuous scene described by authorities. On the following day, both men appeared in Ipswich Magistrates Court, where their legal representatives sought a delay in proceedings. The case has been adjourned until June 25, with magistrate Grace Kahlert requesting a comprehensive brief of evidence for the next court date.

Detective Inspector Michael Manago expressed condolences, highlighting the tragic nature of this event, particularly with young children present in the home when the incident occurred. He extended thoughts to the victim’s family and friends, who are undoubtedly affected by this devastating situation. The police have termed the event “tragic” and chaotic for first responders.

The investigation into the young mother’s death continues, with emphasis being placed on supporting those impacted by domestic and family violence.
