A dramatic incident unfolded at Brisbane’s domestic airport this morning, resulting in a citizen’s arrest around 11.20 am. The situation began when a man, who had arrived in Brisbane on a morning flight from Sydney, was informed he could not board his next flight due to disruptive behaviour. Passengers reported that he was running up and down the aisles, even removing his shirt during the flight.
Upon learning he would be denied boarding, the man allegedly assaulted a female staff member from Virgin Australia. In response, several passengers intervened, tackling him to the ground and ensuring he remained subdued until Australian Federal Police arrived on the scene. Brisbane Airport later issued a statement thanking those passengers for their quick actions.
Virgin Australia praised its staff for their prompt response during the incident. However, there are lingering concerns about how the man was allowed to board the flight from Sydney originally. Witnesses noted that he had been behaving erratically in the terminal, playing loud music and even wearing a lime scooter helmet.
The individual was subsequently taken into custody at the Brisbane Watchhouse, where he was charged with assault and public nuisance. He has since been granted bail and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
