A fire erupted on Forster Crescent in Bentleigh East in the early hours of the morning. Five individuals escaped from the flames, including one person who leapt from the top floor of the townhouse to reach safety. Two of these individuals received treatment from paramedics at the scene before being transported to the hospital.

While the townhouse suffered considerable damage, firefighters successfully contained the outbreak to that single property, preventing the fire from spreading further. Authorities are remaining vigilant this morning as they monitor for any spot fires that may arise.

The cause of the fire remains unclear; however, police have stated that it is being investigated as non-suspicious.
