Plans for Mother’s Day picnics across many regions in Australia may need adjusting due to forecasts of isolated showers. While a significant area of high pressure blankets the southern states, ensuring mostly dry conditions for major cities on Sunday, families can expect mild temperatures ranging from the low to mid-twenties.
However, eastern Australia is likely to face rain on Mother’s Day, particularly affecting areas from central New South Wales up to northern Queensland. Sydney is expected to experience a showery day with a peak temperature around 22 degrees, while Brisbane may see up to 24 degrees, although there may be intermittent dry spells.
Forecast models suggest northern Queensland could experience heavy rainfall, yet there is uncertainty regarding the exact amount. Additionally, parts of southern Western Australia, south-west Tasmania, and eastern Northern Territory are also likely to see some showers.
The bright side is that forecasters predict no severe weather will disrupt Mother’s Day celebrations. For other capitals, the weather looks favourable: Melbourne is expected to be sunny at 23 degrees, Perth will enjoy a warm 28 degrees, Adelaide will be mostly sunny at 24 degrees, Canberra will see sunshine with a maximum of 20 degrees, Hobart will be cloudy at 19 degrees, and Darwin is forecast to be mostly sunny with a high of 33 degrees.
