Former contestants from My Kitchen Rules, Claudean Uamaki-Mu and Anthony Mu, have been implicated in serious child-related offences in Queensland. During the 2023 season of the popular Channel Seven cooking show, the couple, known as the "married battlers," faced multiple charges which came to light while the series aired.
Recent developments in the Richlands Magistrates Court revealed Uamaki-Mu’s identity, which was previously under suppression. She has pleaded guilty to six charges of historical common assaults, including incidents where she physically assaulted a child. Although other charges against her were dismissed, she received a $1,000 fine along with a 12-month good behaviour bond, with no convictions recorded.
Uamaki-Mu still faces additional serious charges, including rape, which are pending and will be tried in the District Court. Charges relating to torture were dropped. Meanwhile, Anthony Mu’s case is also notable; although he was initially connected to more severe allegations, these were eventually dismissed, and he now awaits sentencing on 11 lesser summary offences, with proceedings expected to resume next month.
This case has garnered significant media attention due to the couple’s previous appearances on a widely viewed reality show and the severity of the allegations against them.
