A tragic incident occurred in Bundaberg, Queensland, where a cyclist lost his life in an alleged hit-and-run accident. At approximately 7.50pm on Takalvan Street in Millbank, a 34-year-old man riding his bicycle was struck by a black Hyundai IX35. Emergency services promptly arrived and attempted to perform CPR, but sadly, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been disclosed.

Witnesses reported that the vehicles might have been involved in drag racing, raising concerns about their speeds at the time of the crash. The Hyundai, believed to have been stolen from a nearby home in Norville, was later found abandoned outside a local Thai restaurant just before 10pm, not far from the accident site.
The police are currently searching for more information regarding a second vehicle that the driver of the Hyundai may have used to flee the scene. They are calling for any CCTV footage or dashcam recordings that could aid their ongoing investigation. In the meantime, flowers have been left at the crash site in memory of the deceased cyclist, highlighting the community’s grief over this devastating event.
