Authorities in Brisbane are looking into a series of odd break-ins involving an intruder who has repeatedly used a family’s swimming pool. The individual, dubbed the “paddle pincher,” has appeared on camera on several occasions, but his identity remains a mystery to the homeowners.
Since January, this unwelcome guest has invaded the Stevens’ backyard at least five times. The family, unsettled by these incidents, is baffled by the intruder’s actions. They have observed that he preps for his swim by removing his shoes at the front door, indicating a strange level of comfort in their space.
Holly Stevens, the homeowner, expressed her feelings about the situation, noting the intruder’s apparent sense of entitlement. She remarked, “It just feels a little bit entitled… We’ve come to the conclusion he’s obviously scoping out the property while we’re away to ensure no one is home.” His routine includes stretching and swimming in the pool after what seems to be a run, which Stevens finds particularly unappealing given that he enters the pool in sweaty clothes.
With improved CCTV installed after the second occurrence, the family now has clearer footage of the intruder, though they suspect he may have slipped in unnoticed on additional occasions. Stevens described the events as “really odd” and “bizarre,” highlighting the uncanny nature of the situation.
As law enforcement investigates, the man could face trespassing charges if apprehended. Police advise residents to fortify their properties with fencing and secure measures to deter potential intruders. The ongoing mystery of the paddle pincher has led to heightened concerns among the Stevens family as they seek to safeguard their home from further unwelcome visits.
