A truck driver has been charged following an incident involving a three-vehicle collision in Chester Hill, Western Sydney, which left an elderly woman and a child injured. The event unfolded around 6:20 PM when officers attempted to stop the truck, which was operating with allegedly stolen number plates. However, the driver failed to comply, prompting a police pursuit that was ultimately abandoned due to safety concerns.

CCTV footage later showed the truck entering a roundabout incorrectly, leading to a head-on crash with both a ute and an SUV, causing the truck to overturn. The 32-year-old driver reportedly fled the scene on foot but was apprehended shortly after. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing.

Both the elderly woman and the child were also hospitalised with minor injuries resulting from the crash. Upon his discharge from the hospital, the driver was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he faced multiple charges, including driving without a licence, failing to stop for police, and negligent driving. He was denied bail and is due to appear in Liverpool Local Court today.
