Four teenagers have been apprehended following a police pursuit of an allegedly stolen vehicle in Melbourne. The incident began just after midnight when officers in Pakenham observed a silver Holden Astra speeding on Bald Hill Road.
Victoria Police’s Air Wing tracked the vehicle as it made its way through the south-eastern suburbs onto the Nepean Highway. Ground units followed the Astra into Brighton East, where they successfully deployed tyre spikes.
The chase concluded on Glen Huntly Road in Elwood when the Astra came to a stop. At that point, five individuals exited the car and attempted to flee on foot. Police managed to arrest four of these individuals: a 14-year-old boy from St Kilda, a 16-year-old boy, an 18-year-old woman, and a 17-year-old girl from Pakenham.
All four teenagers are currently in police custody, where they will be subject to questioning. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to Crime Stoppers.
