Nintendo has exciting plans for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, set for release on July 17, 2025. With a lineup featuring fan-favourite franchises, new spins on classic games, and unexpected titles, anticipation is high.

One standout announcement is Donkey Kong Bananza, a new 3D Donkey Kong game, alongside Mario Kart World, which offers an expansive open-world racing experience, enabling up to 24 players to race and explore. Additionally, Kirby Air Riders brings back the fun of high-speed racing from the original GameCube game.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will release later this year for both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, showcasing stunning graphics and new gameplay features including psychic abilities that enhance combat mechanics.

On the Pokémon front, Pokémon Legends Z-A introduces new gameplay elements and a fresh region to explore, though it may not be a visual showcase.

The iconic Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are also receiving special editions for the Switch 2, promising refined gameplay and faster load times, as well as an innovative in-game app that provides hints from Zelda herself.

Fans can also look forward to a revamped Kirby and the Forgotten Land, featuring new storylines, co-op play, and curious gameplay mechanics stemming from a meteor-like event.

In addition to these highly anticipated releases, Nintendo is introducing the Nintendo Switch Welcome Tour, an interactive title that aims to familiarize players with the Switch 2’s features. This marks an interesting move, akin to the familiar Astro’s Playroom on PS5.

The Switch 2 promises backward compatibility, ensuring that all previous Switch titles will work on the new console, enhanced with improved frame rates and graphics. Players who own the originals can upgrade to enhanced versions for a small fee, with Nintendo Switch Online subscribers receiving these upgrades free of charge.

In further gaming news, exciting sequels and high-profile titles are slated to join the Switch 2 library, including Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Street Fighter 6, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Additional games like Sid Meier’s Civilization VII – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and more are also on the horizon, making 2025 a thrilling year for gamers.

With this diverse and promising lineup, Nintendo’s upcoming console launch is shaping up to be one of the most exciting events in gaming history.
