A father from Melbourne recounted a harrowing experience where he feared for his life while attempting to prevent thieves from stealing his cars in the city’s western suburbs. The incident unfolded around 7:30 am, as CCTV footage captured three masked individuals accessing both of the man’s vehicles.

In a desperate effort to thwart the theft, the father positioned himself in front of his Audi as the thieves attempted to drive away. Tragically, he was struck by the vehicle during this confrontation. He later shared his thoughts during the ordeal, expressing the fear of dying in front of his wife and young child, stating, “I was thinking that I’m going to die today.”

Earlier that morning, the intruders had reportedly entered the family home through a garage door. They spent approximately six and a half minutes searching the residence while the couple and their son were asleep. Following this invasion, they made off with the car keys, leading to the eventual theft.

By 3 pm the same day, police had recovered the stolen red Audi, although the family’s grey Mazda remains unaccounted for. Authorities have since arrested a 16-year-old boy, who was on bail at the time, charging him in connection with the incident. He is currently remanded to appear in a children’s court at a later date.
