US stock markets experienced significant declines following a second consecutive day of surprising turnarounds. The S&P 500 index, which had initially surged by 4.1 per cent and appeared set for its best performance in years, ultimately fell by 1.6 per cent. This shift has left the index nearly 19 per cent below its all-time high recorded in February.
Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a decrease of 320 points after relinquishing a remarkable gain of 1,460 points. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite also faced losses, dropping by 2.1 per cent.
Amid these fluctuations, there is considerable uncertainty regarding US President Donald Trump’s approach to his ongoing trade conflict.
