An investigation is currently ongoing following a brawl that erupted during an NRL match between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Sydney Roosters at Accor Stadium last night. The incident occurred at halftime, involving two groups of 11 men seated in the stands.
NSW Police received reports of the altercation at around 9.40 PM and promptly dispatched officers to the scene. Following the disruption, the involved parties were removed from the venue, and thankfully, there were no reported injuries.
Authorities are actively investigating the situation, with Venues NSW stating that any offenders identified will face bans from attending future events. In an official statement, Venues NSW emphasised their commitment to addressing anti-social behaviour and highlighted their stringent measures for managing such incidents.
The game itself began on a challenging note for the Rabbitohs, who found themselves trailing 8-14 with only 20 minutes left on the clock. However, they staged a comeback by scoring two consecutive tries, ultimately securing victory with a final score of 20-14.
As investigations continue, both NSW Police and Venues NSW are focused on discerning the instigators of the brawl to ensure appropriate actions are taken moving forward.
