Toyota has issued a recall for hundreds of Tundra utes due to a defect affecting the reverse lights. This recall impacts specifically the 2022 to 2024 models, including the Regular, Limited, and Platinum variants, with a total of 831 vehicles involved across Australia.

The issue stems from a manufacturing flaw that can allow moisture to penetrate the internal circuit board of the reverse lamps. This defect may result in the lights failing to illuminate when the vehicle is in reverse, posing a safety risk. Additionally, the rear-view camera could inadvertently activate while the vehicle is in motion, further compromising safety.

The lowest price point for a Tundra is approximately $159,990. A statement from the recall notice warns that if drivers cannot identify whether the vehicle is reversing, it may elevate the risk of accidents that could cause serious injuries or fatalities to both the occupants and other road users.

Toyota has committed to reaching out to the owners of the affected vehicles, informing them about the recall and subsequently updating them when replacement parts are ready. Owners will then have the opportunity to schedule a complimentary repair at their local Toyota dealer.

For further details, customers can visit the official Toyota recalls page or contact Toyota directly at 1800 987 366.
