Three youths, including 15-year-old Dau Akueng and 12-year-old Chol Achiek, were attacked by a group in Cobblebank while returning from a bus stop on the evening of September 6. The incident has since led to unrest in the community, with a recent morning attack involving vandalism at the home of a local father whose daughter has received alarming death threats online.

Eddy, the father, recounted the distressing event, stating that he was abruptly awakened by noises of destruction outside. His daughter, 14-year-old Nadia, was a friend of the boys and has faced severe online harassment due to unfounded accusations linking her to the alleged gang members involved in the attack. Both Nadia and her family have strongly denied these claims, asserting that she was merely a friend of the boys and had no involvement in any gang activities. Nadia highlighted that Chol was returning home from basketball training when he was fatally attacked.

Following the tragic deaths of Dau and Chol, investigations into the events are ongoing. Authorities are examining the possibility that the recent vandalism incident may be an act of retaliation linked to the earlier attacks. During this process, Nadia’s phone has been confiscated for further investigation, although the exact motive behind the attacks remains undetermined. As it stands, no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing incidents involving the two boys.

Community tensions are high as locals grapple with the aftermath of the violence and the impact it has had on young lives.
